Trail Map

I brought my GPS along on our paddling trip and recorded our path (Download the path data here). Later, I downloaded the USGS maps for the area. I combined the 1:24000 quads of Capers Inlet and Sewee Bay. Then I manually laid the path onto the map in Photoshop and tried to get it to fit. The topo maps are at least ten years old and I imagine that the island has shifted some, which might explain why our campsite is show in the water here! The red path is Friday, October 17, green is Saturday, October 18, and blue is Sunday, October 19.

I ordered a waterproof topo map of this region for my trip, but it arrived a day late (thank you very much Columbus Day). Here's also a link to the TopoZone map of the area.

It's not easy to come by free USGS topographical raster maps anymore, but the South Carolina DNR graciously provides free access to their files. They require the following disclaimer, however:
