Thursday I took a short trip to newly-named Congaree National Park (it was a National Monument for a long time before). It was pretty hot, but there was plenty of shade on the boardwalks and trails. This is a beautiful place, and deserving of its new title.
I spent three hours hiking and trying out my new macro lens. It takes some getting used to and is not real easy to handhold for closeups. It doesn’t take much of a shake to blur a small subject. I saw a good variety of bugs, and the occasional skink or lizard. One turtle at the entrance. No snakes.
The Cedar Creek looked very low. We had lots of rain in the late spring/early summer but it has really tapered off.
